Fully Equipped Rockpecker Bit

What we can term an ideal bit is one that provides consistent performance, fast response times in soft to medium-hard formation, toughness and moderate application complexity along with competitive cost; however, such a bit does not exist as of yet.

This does not imply that no PDC Pilot bit could provide performance that is exceptional. Steel body PDC bits are becoming increasingly prevalent, reliable and affordable as technology progresses fairly regularly.

PDC Bits' durability and strength enrich them with a set of advantages:

  • Fast and safer Drilling

  • Repairable and recycling

  • Less cutters break in high impact formations due to toughness of steel

  • Longer service Life

Most remarkably, PDC Bits require less replacement than other drilling bits because they have a longer life span. The shift towards PDC Bits for large-scale projects across all application areas can be largely attributed to this reason.

A multi-featured Steel body PDC Pilot Bit by Rockpecker has been fabricated to extend the life of the drilling bit. Depending on your set budget and preferences, you can have this highly integrated PDC Drill Bit customized with the following features and sizes options for Oil & gas, Geothermal, Water well, Mining applications:

  • Back Reaming Cutters

  • Hard- facing

  • Gauge Cutters

  • Speed bumps/ Shock Studs

  • Double Row Cutters

Tungsten Carbide Hard facing is done to increase drilling applications' thermal conductivity, abrasion resistance, and erosion resistance. The gauge's aim is to steer the bit more smoothly and without twitches while maintaining the correct hole diameter. It offers impact and abrasion resistance.

Double Row Cuttershave been rigorously designed and evaluated using a structured development process to provide the most efficient cutter geometry for specific application. Shock Studs limit drill bit vibration and increase stability. Shock Studs make contact with the formation to help restore the bit’s normal cutting action. Smooth cutting action increases cutter life and overall bit performance.

  • Available Sizes: In addition to our design and product line, which ranges in size from 2”to 26”, we also produce custom drilling bits as per customer requirements.

  • Blade Shapes: PDC bits come in a variety of blade shapes, from simple curves to straight. Curved blades improve bit stability, especially when it first contacts a rock.

  • Soil Formation: PDC bit body is forged from steel. The wide application range for PDC bits requires unique PDC cutter technology to get the most drilling performance in each application.

    • Compared to a PDC bit made for hard rocks, soft rock PDC bits have fewer blades and cutters.

    • A PDC Bit needs a lot of tiny cutters in order to remove every small chunk of the harder formation.

When you put together all of the aforementioned PDC Bit Design features, you will have a power- that is roughly equivalent to the ideal bit we initially discussed to help achieve your drilling goal. Overall, you can now expect faster and more consistent penetration rates, longer bit life, and cheaper total drilling costs. The task can now be made simpler!
